Roots of the Gameplay II

Hello guys,

sorry I didn't post for a few weeks now, but I've been superbusy...

Last time I said that Minecraft today is abaout surviving:
So let's come straight to the point:

When you spawn, you'll find yourself at the surface of a brand-new, never before touched, individual created world... which has been created by some algorythm the Minecraft developers meant is great (which is really great I have to say ;-) )

So you are there, standing around in a forest, on an island, the top of a mountain, maybe a swamp, close to a river or just in the middle of a desert...

So what are you going to do?

First you should build a shelter in which you are save from the dangerous creatures walking around at night... Yes, there are some cute animals walking around (chickens, pigs, cows, etc.), but at night you will meet classic fantasy creatures like zombies and skeletton warriors, giant spiders, creeps (I'll come to that a**hole-creature another time specifically) or the endermen! And all of them want to see you dead!

You can create your shelter out of some materials like Stone, Wood or Dirt (which doesn't look very pretty to be honest). After you've made your decision, you need to get those materials...

If you decided to build a stone shelter you have to create a pickaxe....

And because I'm tired, you will read next time about a very important pillar of minecraft: the crafting itself.

Roots of the gameplay

Hello guys,

sorry I didn't post for a week now, but I had some free-time-stress ;-)

Last time I told you a little bit about Minecraft and its developing process... today I'm going to tell you how the gameplay looked like at the beginning:

At the beginning Minecraft just had some "core-blocks" like wood, earth, stone, and so on. All you could do was fly around and put some blocks on each other to build some buildings. You didn't have a limit of blocks, so you didn't have any motivation to dig your way underneath your world.
But that was in the past.

Today Minecraft is about surviving... and that is not a metaphor.

About Minecraft: The Developer

Hello guys,

I forgot to tell you what Minecraft exactly is, so here I go:

First of all it's a game still in Beta, that means it is still in development, and is getting developed mainly by  a swedish indie-developer (that means he isn't reliant on a big publisher like EA or Activision). Because he's a indie-developer, he can do with his game whatever he wants, whenever he wants. And that is what Notch does (Notch is the nickname of Minecraft's inventor Markus Persson):

In periods from a few weeks to a few months Notch releases updates which bring short additions and sometimes even huge new contents to the game.

Next time I'll tell you more,

About my blog:

Hey guys,

because I'm new to this blogging stuff and don't really know what to write in here I'll come straight to the point:

In here I am going to post every few days (if possible more often) my experiences with the open world-sandbox-game Minecraft. So you will see some presentations about texture packs and mods, but also some screenshots and descriptions about my current project called "Colsiona".

If requested maybe I could force myself to record a few videos about some construction descriptions or even  a few flythroughs across my map "Colsiona", which is still in progress.

So that's it for the beginning,

'craft ya later,
